Midcentury enthusiasts, take note: There’s a new bible of Desert Modern design you’ll want to know about. The Desert Modernists: The Architects Who Envisioned Midcentury Modern Palm Springs.

The book — published through a partnership between Modernism Week and Palm Springs Life — covers 12 groundbreaking architects and their influential works.

The 144-page soft cover commemorative book provides a detailed account of the architects who shaped "desert modern" architecture featuring spectacular photography of their most significant and historical projects. In celebration of the tenth year of Modernism Week they collaborated with an esteemed group of 13 authors, 17 photographers, and architecture and design community supporters to examine the work of 12 of the most notable Desert Modern architects from the mid-20th century.

“The Desert Modernists – The Architects Who Envisioned Midcentury Modern Palm Springs” highlights the most significant architectural projects of these dozen architects and features stunning photographs – many never-before-seen or published. The definitive book about the masterminds who shaped Palm Springs’ iconic midcentury modern design is the result of a unique collaboration with Palm Springs Life that also included a special feature of monthly book excerpts and photographs in the magazine from November 2014 through April 2015.

Included in the 143-page volume are chapters about each of the architects written by published authorities on the subjects. The architects featured are Robson C. Chambers, John Porter Clark, William F. Cody, Albert Frey, A. Quincy Jones, Hugh Kaptur, William “Bill” Krisel, John Lautner, Richard Neutra, Donald Wexler, E. Stewart Williams, and Paul R. Williams. The survey of each designer informs the overall picture of mid-twentieth century development in Palm Springs.

Indirect and Direct Signature requirements

Signature requirements apply to domestic US shipments ONLY

Orders $70 to $299.99 require an indirect signature.

This means that if the first delivery attempt is unsuccessful a note will be left at the address given under "Ship To". This note has the option for the customer to sign and the package will be left where specified by customer on the next delivery attempt.

Orders $300 and more require a direct signature.

A direct signature is obtained when the package is delivered to the shipping address and a signature is given to the delivery person. The signature cannot be left on a note, delivery notice, or any other method. It must be in person.

If after the third delivery attempt the necessary signature type has not been obtained, the package will be returned to Destination PSP. In the event a package is returned due to lack of signature, the purchase amount will be refunded, minus the cost for shipping even if order was eligible for free shipping. The shipping cost includes from Destination PSP to the shipping address and from the shipping address back to Destination PSP.

Example:
Order subtotal = $100
Shipping cost = $10 one way (so x 2 for shipping TO you and BACK to us)
Total refund = $80
