The Eames Toy
The Eames Toy is a large-scale building system designed to create bold, colorful worlds that invite imagination, movement, and play.
Originally produced in 1951, this was the first toy Charles and Ray Eames manufactured and sold at retail. Reintroduced after nearly 60 years, The Eames Toy reflects their enduring belief in modular systems, honest materials, and the power of open-ended play. Large square and triangle panels connect easily using wooden dowels and wires, allowing structures to grow and evolve in countless directions.
The Toy was designed to be shared across ages and uses. It can become houses, tunnels, and tents for children, towers and puppet theaters for older kids, or theatrical sets, decorations, and immersive environments for teens and adults. Lightweight yet durable, the vinyl panels are fire-resistant, water-resistant, and made from phthalate-free materials, making them suitable for repeated building and reimagining.
From its earliest cardboard experiments to the vinyl construction used today, The Eames Toy captures the Eameses’ belief that play is a serious and joyful way to explore ideas at scale.
