Michael Childers Having a Ball Art Museum Poster - Drag Queens
This original poster was created for the Palm Springs Art Museum's exhibit and features an original photograph by Michael Childers of three drag queens from the Los Angeles Ball in 1975.
The exhibit ran January 20, 2018 to May 28, 2018. The poster measures 18 inches by 24 inches and is printed on high quality gloss cover poster paper.
In tandem with the exhibition Andy Warhol: Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation, the museum presented a new exhibition of work by Michael Childers.
During the 1970s, Childers was a photographer for Andy Warholsâ Interview Magazine, giving him access to the artist and his famous New York studio, The Factory. Childersâ photographs of Warhol from the 1970s use subtle strategies of gesture, props, and doubling devises to go beyond the inscrutable icon that the artist cultivated, bringing to light his complicated personality below the surface persona.
This exhibition was organized by Palm Springs Art Museum from The Michael Childers Archive and funded in part by the museumâs Photography Collection Council.
