Eames House Construction Flipbook
Eames House Construction Flipbook brings the making of a modernist landmark to life, allowing you to watch the Eames House take shape page by page.
This special reissue uses 72 faithfully reproduced stills from Charles and Ray Eames’ 1955 film House: After Five Years of Living to animate the construction of Case Study House No. 8, built in 1949 in Pacific Palisades, California. As the pages flip, the house emerges through its steel frame, prefabricated façade panels, and carefully considered use of color and texture, offering a clear, visual understanding of the Eameses’ innovative approach to building.
More than a design object, this re-release also marks a moment of resilience. After narrowly escaping destruction during the Pacific Palisades wildfires, the Eames House has reopened following restoration efforts. In support of this work, the Eames Office will donate 15 percent of all sales of this flipbook to the Charles and Ray Eames Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund.
Compact, collectible, and deeply engaging, the Eames House Construction Flipbook is a thoughtful keepsake for architecture lovers, design enthusiasts, and anyone inspired by the enduring legacy of Charles and Ray Eames.
