The Aluminaire House - Hardcover Book
Explore one of the most influential works of modern architecture with The Aluminaire House, a beautifully produced hardcover that traces the design, history, and restoration of the groundbreaking 1931 experimental home by A. Lawrence Kocher and Albert Frey.
Originally created for the 1931 Allied Arts and Industry and Architectural League Exhibition in New York City, the Aluminaire House demonstrated the possibilities of mass-produced, affordable housing. Built in just ten days using aluminum, glass, and readily available industrial materials, it drew more than 100,000 visitors in its first week and became a landmark of early modernist design.
Today, the house is being reconstructed at the Palm Springs Art Museum, where it will be part of the permanent collection. It is recognized by Architectural Record as one of the most important buildings completed in the past 125 years.
Featuring more than 150 black-and-white and full-color photographs, this volume is essential for fans of midcentury modernism, architectural history, and Palm Springs design culture.
